Disappeared
by
Pepo Galán & David Cordero
Limited Edition Cassette
11/28/2022
About:
Galán and Cordero are historically frequent collaborators, and they continue their long-distance partnership with their latest effort titled, 'Disappeared'. The album came to fruition without hurry, little by little. Their patient approach slowly evolved into the final arrangements heard on this contemplative recording.
"Pepo and I sent each other small fragments of sounds to further refine, develop, and transform until we reached a certain sound we enjoyed. Our intention with this particular set of arrangements was to allow the mixture of our styles to seamlessly converge in the most delicate manner. We wanted this body of work to exemplify and highlight the calm nature of our production styles." -Cordero
'Disappeared' delivers on the forementioned qualities and characteristics. A beautiful affair of calm movements and delicate sound production with a graceful hand of exemplary mastering by James Bernard at his California studio.
Galán and Cordero previously worked together on arrangements and albums on Home Normal, Archives, El Muelle, and Muzan Editions.

'Ornaments of Decay'
Wil Bolton
Ornaments of Decay
by
Wil Bolton
Limited Edition Cassette
11/28/2022
About:
Wil Bolton is a London-based artist whose work uses synthesizers, guitars, acoustic instruments and effects to create warm and emotive melodies, fragmented and submerged among beds of droning ambient textures and environmental sounds. Wil has released albums on labels including Home Normal, Hidden Vibes, Krysalisound, Audiobulb, Hibernate, Eilean, Dronarivm and Sound In Silence. He has also shown his sound and video works in exhibitions at ICA, Incheon Art Platform, Liverpool Biennial and others, and has performed at venues including Cafe Oto, Tate Liverpool and Iklectik.
Ornaments of Decay is an album about finding beauty in ruins, decay and the details and textures of everyday scenes. Slowly evolving modular synthesizer sequences are layered with degraded Bass VI loops and fractured mellotron and casiotone melodies.
Pressing Information:
Teal tint shell cassette with white imprinting, housed in a clear/black norelco box. Loaded with FerroMaster C456™ super ferric, ultra-high performance type-1 music grade analog tape. Shrinkwrapped.
Credits:
Written, recorded and mixed by Wil Bolton, February - November 2021, using Eurorack modular synthesizer, Buchla Easel Command, Casiotone 101, Mellotron, Fender Bass VI, effects pedals and a field recording made in Venice.

'Meridians Murmur and Sun Makes Sound'
Slow Dancing Society
Meridians Murmur and Sun Makes Sound
by
Slow Dancing Society
Limited Edition 2xCD Digipak
11/28/2022
◾️◾️◾️ REVIEW
“America's most prolific and distinctive ambient label hooks up with Slow Dancing Society of Richland, Washington, for 14 tracks of properly deep state slow motion behaviour. This is drone music at its very sweetest, with the likes of 'We're All In The Dark Looking For A Light' and 'Tethered To Dusk' proving to be big, gradually evolving pieces using mainly gorgeously sustained synth notes and occasionally garnished with lilting guitar notes. 'Sun Makes Sound', meanwhile, has a more tactile, organic feel, with a raw recording complete with the creak of piano hammers. Dreamy, all-enveloping melodies mapped out on an interstellar scale.”
-Juno Records
Pressing Information:
Glass-mastered (silverback), silkscreen printed 2xCD housed in a 4-panel, 300g satin cardstock, wide spine digipak. Clear cd trays. Printed using green friendly ink. Cardstock made from recycled board. Eco-pack protected by a clear, re-sealable eco-bag.

Transition
by
Havenaire
Limited Edition LP [mystery color]
11/25/2022
◾️◾️◾️ REVIEW
"Stockholm's Havenaire follows up a series of head-turning ambient releases on the likes of Shimmering Moods, Polar Seas and Glacial Movements with a limited new long player on Past Inside The Present. Across six slowly shifting soundscapes he layers up his misty-eyed chords into music that is designed to empty your mind but that also gently sweeps your heart. There is subtle hope and optimism amongst the ambient fog here that leaves you feeling cleansed and soothed. All six pieces have their own character but are very much united by a sense of calm and serenity that is utterly captivating."
-Juno Records
Pressing Information:
160 gram LP on a one-of-a-kind color vinyl. The record color will be exclusive to you alone. It may be opaque, translucent, or transparent with varying characteristics and mixes. The record is housed in a full color, semi-gloss jacket. Monochrome center labels. Includes download code. Shrinkwrapped. Edition of 311.

◾️◾️◾️ REVIEW
“Anyone who's cast even the most casual eye over their ever expanding catalogue will have realised that one thing Past Inside The Present do best is bring artists together for unexpected and inspired collaborations. Departing in Descent is the first collaboration between James Bernard and bvdub but their creative conversation effectively started as far back as 1994 when the latter bought Bernard's Atmospherics album in 1994 when it was "mistakenly stocked" in his local house music store. He says it was and remains his favourite ambient album, so when the pair found themselves crossing paths for one night in LA years later, a collaboration was the only logical conclusion. The results are more organic and friendly on the ear than some ambient offerings, with real instrumentation meshed with walls of woozy synths and delays, but no less fantastical and ambitious for it.“

Stasis Sounds For Long-Distance Space Travel [reissue]
by
36 & zakè
Limited Edition LP [hyper clear]
Limited Edition LP [mystery galaxy]
11/4/2022
About:
The world has found itself in a significant hurry. We have also found ourselves in the most distracted period of time in history; finding it tremendously difficult to remain in a moment of stillness, quietude, or allow time for self-reflection. Conversely, our vast universe continues its expansion into infinite development; a climate of deafening silence in a boundless four-dimensional continuum. It remains mesmerizing with a quiet allure that freely suspends in space-time; a true account of the beautiful unknown that sparks hope, reverence, and an awesome realization of impenetrable mystery. “Stasis Sounds For Long-Distance Space Travel” is audibly rich in its delivery with an array of tranquil billows and patient tones. It is a journey and soundtrack that commences at Earth’s thermosphere, gently moving towards the untraveled parts of space, lushly floating on forever. These arrangements represent a group of celestial transmissions that are delicate in nature and intended for the listener to embrace moments of stillness, quietude and reflection, of which are on a trajectory of extinction at a place we call Earth.
Pressing Information:
160 gram LP on 'hyper clear' (110 copies) and 'mystery galaxy' (415 copies) housed in a semi-gloss jacket. Full color center labels. Records are placed in a black, anti-static inner sleeve with a .75 gauge archival polypropylene lining. Includes download card insert. Shrinkwrapped.

Departing In Descent
by
bvdub & James Bernard
Limited Edition 2xLP [mystery color]
10/21/2022
About:
Departing in Descent is the first collaboration between James Bernard and bvdub – though, unbeknownst to each other, their lives had traveled silently side-by-side for decades. Officially beginning, perhaps, with Brock's purchase of James' seminal Atmospherics in 1994 after it was mistakenly stocked in his local house record store, what was and always will be his favorite ambient album of all time connected, as abstractly as possible, two people whose journeys through both music and life had been running in secret parallel for as long as either had ever known.
From their lives as ravers deep in the underground, one in NY, one in SF, to years of personal and musical struggles that may as well been written by the same pen, their paths ran in tandem, unknowingly, for virtually their entire lives before one fateful night in LA found them in the same place at the same time – and it all became clear. What had happened. And what would happen as a result.

'chamomile' is filled with the sounds of nature and visions of the clouds and heavens above, chamomile is a totally absorbing listen, wrapping you up in its harmonious chordplay and transporting you to a calmer, sunnier, altogether nicer place.

"The lush tones of secret garden hymnals become tangible, ethereal landscapes in Cynthia Bernard’s hands as marine eyes. The ten vignettes on chamomile don’t simply tell a story; they invite listeners to find their own narrative within these lilting arrangements. The empty space is nestled within the warm synths, expressive guitars, and magnetic field records. Somewhere we can immerse ourselves and find a hypnotic calm. [...] Bernard’s gift is this heavenly world. chamomile is a wonder."

[...] "An album I’ve been leaning on quite a bit lately is the gorgeous chamomile by marine eyes. chamomile is her debut release with label Past Inside The Present and it showcases her brilliance as an new age/ambient/drone composer. chamomile is slow motion bliss.
The ten songs on chamomile rise like sunset hues over calm water. “cocoon” gives me the feeling of sitting on the screened-in porch with a cup of coffee as the sun sleepily makes its entrance over the calm lake. The family still sleeping, there’s a sense of oneness that comes over me in that instance. “cocoon” captures the mystery and the ambivalence in that moment. It’s at once peaceful and melancholy. “magic familiar” has the heft of a walk on the beach, complete with the hum of stirring waters and sun-baked psychedelia. Voices in the distance that blend into a chorus of gauzy release.
Cynthia Bernard mixes voice in her music, giving the proceedings an almost angelic touch. Clouds parting, sunlight coming down like an escalator from the cosmos inviting you to ascend to a higher plane. On “what’s on the inside (featuring City of Dawn)” Bernard creates walls of glorious reverb-drenched vocals. This song has an incandescence to it; meaning escapes in the cavernous ebb and flow as if the song’s beating heart welcomes you into its sonic chambers. “suspended universe” goes into Cocteau Twins territory with almost pop sensibilities as her vocals sit front and center. Pure transcendence.
Cynthia Bernard, aka Marine Eyes, described the album as pieces of journal entries, and wanted these ten songs “to feel like new entries–distilled miniature worlds of my creative process and inner life.” I feel she has done that with Chamomile. You can feel the people and places that helped make this album a reality. The textures and voices in the music come out as living things. They invite you in, lovingly with wide open sonic arms."

"In many places, it’s shaped up to be a brutally hot summer. As temperatures creep to dangerously high levels, it can be tempting to turn towards darker ambient textures as a way to simulate being shaded and cool. Chamomile—the new album from Los Angeles producer Cynthia Bernard, aka marine eyes—is the rare, sunny electronic record that absolutely hits on a blistering afternoon. Centered on ambient’s usual instrumental fare (like field recordings and a Teenage Engineering OP-1), she also incorporated bass and guitar into her writing process. The completed project blends billowing synthscapes with more traditional vocal and string flourishes that are reminiscent of Liz Harris/Grouper, if her work wasn’t so deeply impacted by the foggy gloom of the Oregon coast. Expansive and emotive, these 10 gossamer tracks beg to score a solitary picnic in some fantastical patch of meadow."

◾️◾️◾️ REVIEW
"Regular collaborator with label boss zake, City of Dawn teams up with From Overseas, an aptly named producer based on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. The result is classic Past Inside The Present - quivering, celestial ambient music that would fit into the drone category if it weren't for the fact it's constantly, subtly changing and evolving almost imperceptibly. Utterly horizontal in attitude, utterly heavenly in realisation, this is a corker even by PITP's very high standards."

"Christopher 'Lav' Landin is a master of ambient sounds but it's been a while since we heard from him after 2017's collaboration with Purl. Contained within are a beguiling set of tunes with soul stirring pads, gently propulsive rhythms and gorgeous sound designs that call to mind various different references from deepest space to a warm spring day. It is an accomplished album design for mental escape."

‘To Those Who Dwelt in a Land of Deep Darkness’ was originally released as a hi-fidelity 10” lathe which sold out almost immediately. "For many, music and art are invaluable when it comes to coping with dark and trying times. This can be true for both the creator and the listener. zakè & Wayne Robert Thomas offer a pensive and ultimately healing deep dive into what it means to continue living life in the face of loss and uncertainty. These arrangements explore the emotional depths of struggle, perseverance, and growth."

“‘To Those Who Dwelt in a Land of Deep Darkness’ is centered around a 40-minute piece that loops a gentle, layered melodic phrase ad infinitum, with only subtle alterations along the way. It was created as a kind of healing balm for people who have experienced deep loss, and I think therein lies its emotional power. To me it feels like the sun gently breaking through clouds as you start to move on and learn to live with grief. More active addendums distills the essence of the main arrangement. A quietly powerful album with a beautiful stillness at its center.”

"zakè & Wayne Robert Thomas come together to serve up a thoughtful and healing deep dive into "what it means to continue living life in the face of loss and uncertainty." Their album is one of great depth emotional and full of subtle struggles that we can all relate to. 'To Those Who Dwelt in a Land of Deep Darkness' was first put out as a 10" lathe but now gets pressed up properly to 12" vinyl with three extra tracks taken from the original recording sessions. They say the best art comes out of adversity and that is certainly true here."

Limited Edition LP [metallic silver]
Limited Edition LP [transparent blue]
05/20/2022
About:
'Symmetry Systems' is the new EP by Dennis Huddleston AKA 36. Inspired by Warp's 'Artificial Intelligence' releases from the early 90's, it's a melodic, synthesiser-driven record, with a wink to the past and a nod towards the future.
"I have a deep love for those early Warp albums, particularly the Artificial Intelligence compilations. It was a wonderful time for UK electronic music. That beautiful, warm machine sound, with an optimistic (if somewhat naive) vision for the future. I found the whole thing incredibly inspiring and wanted to revisit those memories, albeit with a 36 twist"
Like 'Wave Variations' before it, this record explores various approaches to the theme, with each track directly inspiring the next one. All tracks are sequenced in the order they were made. 'Symmetry Systems' is a collection of hypnotic machine music, made with a delicate human touch.

Healing Together: A Compilation For Mental Health Recovery
by
Various Artists
Limited Edition 160g 2xLP + Digital
5/13/2022
About:
Healing Together is a benefit compilation for mental health recovery featuring 23 ambient-electronic artists from around the world.
Recognizing that music is a bridge to normalizing conversations about the challenges people are going through, each artist was prompted to create a song that would help someone with mental health struggles know they’re not alone. This sprouted into a collection of ambient music holding space for the many emotional landscapes we experience as humans.
Healing Together features new compositions specially prepared for the compilation from the incredible line-up of women artists Nailah Hunter, Penelope Trappes, Clarice Jensen, Drum & Lace, Sofie Birch, Hollie Kenniff, Clariloops, more eaze, Ami Dang, Karen Vogt, Patricia Wolf, Zoe Polanski, Sachi Kobayashi, Christina Giannone, Ai Yamamoto, Cat Tyson Hughes, IKSRE, Inquiri, Belly Full of Stars, Claire Deak, Pechblende, Caminuata and marine eyes.
This is the 3rd benefit compilation from Past Inside The Present and the first to be released on vinyl. Cynthia Bernard (marine eyes) curated, sequenced, and provided album art for the compilation marking her first project with PITP since joining the team in Spring of 2021.
Net profits of the compilation will go to Sounds of Saving, a non-profit fueling hope for mental health both by celebrating the power of human connection to music and directing people towards the resources they need before it’s too late.

“This 23 track compilation, whose proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit organisation Sounds Of Saving, is compiled by Cynthia Bernard, a recording artist and employee of Indiana based label Past Inside The Present. It's an outgrowth of her mix series featuring women ambient artists, which itself was the result of Bernard's displeasure at the amount of ambient compilations featuring only men.
The theme arose from the pandemic mental health issues Bernard witnessed, both among her five children and the PITP staff, who are candid about their personal lives in the workplace. Although she doesn't cite a connection between the female artists and the psychological theme, one should note that women are overall more likely to report mental health issues than men.
The compilation is consistent. Starting with more classical influenced pieces and transitioning toward drone and sound art as the set goes on, the tracks are not only gentle, soothing and carefully made, but they also have a uniformity as if they were all recorded by one artist.
The first part of the compilation is the strongest: Clariloops's "Today" has hints of Japanese ambient and optimistic Berlin school electronic, while Drum & Lace's "Felt" is dominated by a bassy keyboard pluck- an incredibly satisfying and underused sound. Cat Tyson Hughes's "Almonta" ends the album with a moment of remarkably still inner peace.
Countless people describe the act of listening to music as healing. As many again, especially on YouTube, bill ambient music as helpful for anxiety and insomnia. Yet music is almost never suggested as an aid by mental health resources, and almost no musicians market their music as being beneficial for the psyche. Healing Together is a significant move towards bridging this gap.”

The Artists:
Sofie Birch, ‘Willness’
Finding yourself in the wilderness of emotions. Trying to hold on to a point of focus. This point of focus will lead you through the chaos, but it takes will and courage to hold on.
Magic happens when you find the will and courage to heal and transform.
sofiebirch.bandcamp.com
Hollie Kenniff, ‘Embers’
I think that being creative, even for short time each day, is essential to health and well being and I hope that listeners feel inspired by the music.
holliekenniff.bandcamp.com
Clariloops, ‘Today’
This piece is about focusing on and appreciating every aspect of the present moment, good and bad. I used clarinet and sounds from my organelle to create intertwining layers that evoke feelings of joy, melancholy and peacefulness.
clariloops.bandcamp.com
Drum & Lace, ‘Felt’
The track 'Felt' is inspired by a sense of togetherness, and that even if we are alone physically we are still connected to those that we love and care for. The name of the track was inspired by the piano that is featured in the track, our home felted upright piano, and it was recorded on a whim as an iPhone audio memo and used as is. The field recordings featured were also all recorded at my home in Los Angeles.

Sachi Kobayashi, ’Scent of Roses’
They say that the scent of roses heals people. I wrote this song while imagining you relaxing in a sunny garden with roses, smelling their fragrance. I hope you can imagine that too when you listen to this song.
sachikobayashi.bandcamp.com
Belly Full Of Stars, ‘Charlie Day’
‘Charlie Day’ is written in memory of my good friend Charlie Hickey. On the day of his passing, my husband and I sat on our porch in shock and grief, sharing our memories of Charlie. As we talked, our words tuned and transformed from deep sadness to comfort and even moments of joy, remembering who he was, and who he will always be to us - sharing his spirit.
The murmur of distant voices has always been a comforting sound to me. Woven through Charlieday is a recording of that conversation - a remembrance of the healing power of shared words and spirit, even on the most difficult of days.
more eaze, ‘Better’
moreeaze.bandcamp.com
marine eyes, ‘Doorways’
‘Doorways’ is an exploration of how creativity can help us step into a new state of mind when we feel weighed down by negative emotions. I used field recordings of gentle waves close to our home in Southern California as a reminder of life’s ebbs and flows and OP-1 textures to emulate a fresh sense of space. I hope this song can help others find grounding and believe other doorways are out there.

IKSRE, ‘You Will Find’
I wanted this song to speak to anyone who may feel like they’re alone - to show them that even if they think they’re completely on their own, there’s someone else out there for them. It may be a friend, partner, even a pet. Whoever it is, if you keep on looking, one day you'll find them, and life will feel a little more complete. Underpinning the song are binaural beats at 7.83hz - the Schumann resonance, or the Earth’s frequency; but also the alpha/theta border which sound healers recognize as the brainwave for deep healing.
iksre.bandcamp.com
Inquiri, ‘Ruminating’
At the end of a long day, when the mask we've been wearing all day long just to survive finally drops, and the whirlpool of unresolved emotions, distorted scenarios replayed over and over, and the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves, begins to swirl--that's the sound of this piece for me. It's the sound of trying to re-ground and find calm in the heaviness of grief, fear, and loneliness.

Clarice Jensen ‘Getting Lost is Okay’

Christina Giannone, ‘Decor’

Patricia Wolf, ‘Cognitive Distortion’
With the title, I wanted to point to what cognitive distortions are so that people may seek ways work through them.
patriciawolf.bandcamp.com
Penelope Trappes, ‘Possession’
The panic, worry, and the fear of being alone can be so great that it can fully take over and possess us, leaving us grappling for some kind of sense of control. This song is about the internal battle that every human faces at some point in their lives.
penelopetrappes.bandcamp.com
Claire Deak, ‘Dampen The Waves’
Dampen The Waves is in a tangled messy dialogue with Francesca Caccini's baroque lament Lasciatemi Qui Solo (from 1618). My title is lifted directly from a translation of her lyrics. Thinking about how Francesca (and many women composers) have disappeared through layers of history, I began to fold, weave, and deliberately lose her beautiful song through my own playing and processing.

Ami Dang ‘Cerulean’
I created this song in one evening. Often I say my words through music.
amidang.bandcamp.com
Pechblende ‘Glacial Lake Lullaby’
pechblendeaux.bandcamp.com
Karen Vogt, ‘I know it is hard’
‘I know it is hard’ is an improvised, vocal-based piece that includes a quick shake of the house keys to anchor the message reflected in the title. We cannot always heal a person with mental health issues, but we can hear them and acknowledge their difficulties.

Zoe Polanski, ‘Liu’
Liu is an anxiously optimistic etude for perilous times, that I made with a magical Japanese Nobara Koto synth.
Mixed by Aviad Zinemanas
Guest vocals by Nadav Yahalomi & Irit Stark
The track is based on a short excerpt from "Signore, Ascolta!" (an aria from the opera Turandot by Puccini).

About:
Drum & Lace, aka Sofia degli Alessandri-Hultquist, is an Italian composer, sound artist and performer that writes and creates music for film and media. 'Natura' is her debut Past Inside the Present release, in addition to it being her first formal full-length album. Natura pays homage to intelligent electronica and will no doubt be a defining album in the ambient/IDM genre.
Inspired by interesting sounds and cinematic elements, Drum & Lace melds together sampled field recordings and lush layers of synths to create densely textural and beat-heavy music, greatly drawing from film music, music concrete and modern electronica. Her ambient and chamber work also gathers great inspiration from nature and natural sound, as well as the juxtaposition of unlikely sounds with one another.
Her composition work includes writing for film, tv, dance, theater, fashion and advertising.
Drum & Lace's performance work often includes sound installation and spatial audio elements, at events such as The Echo Society VI: Family (Los Angeles, CA), Pink Privacy installation at Pulse Art Fair 2018 / Art Basel (Miami Beach, FL), a quadraphonic interactive performance at Los Angeles Central Library's Taper Auditorium with Suzanne Ciani (Los Angeles, CA), Moogfest 2019 (Durham, NC) and 'semi songs' Live LA at Bootleg Theater (Los Angeles, CA). She recently performed a (virtual) set as part of National Sawdust’s Digital Discovery Festival in July 2020. She also composed 'Further', a work for contemporary dance that features field recordings, electronics and strings performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO).
Her compositions and scoring can be found in various film and television installations including, HBO documentaries, various Netflix series, Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV+ Series and NBC. For most recent film work see IMDB

Review:
"After a run of acclaimed singles, EPs and film and TV scores (“Dickinson,” “Good Girls,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer”), Drum & Lace (Sofia Hultquist) is finally releasing her debut album. Natura is confident and catchy, the artist’s vast experience giving her an advantage over most debut appearances.
In 2019, we placed the artist’s semi songs in Modern Composition after a brief discussion; this one lands in a different category because the dominant element has shifted. The strings are still present, contributed by the London Contemporary Orchestra, but Natura is also a club-friendly album, featuring many possible singles. The first of these, “Creatura” and “Armatura,” are also the opening tracks, the first instrumental, the second including sparse vocals. Amazingly, Drum & Lace has the potential to chart in both pop and indie arenas due to her chameleon-like nature.
The mixture of organic and electronic illustrates the album’s loose theme: the interplay between nature and technology. The album’s longest track, “Waxing Crescent,” is built on a foundation of modular synth, with onomatopoeic vocals wafting over the rhythms. The timbre is as lush as a rain forest, despite its artificial elements. Field recordings crackle underneath, a souvenir of the gentle earth. The blending is reminiscent of Björk’s Biophilia, which also contains a track titled “Náttúra.” The template is repeated on the immersive “Prasiano,” which beckons listeners into a wondrous trance-like world where all time markers are erased.
The album’s shortest track, “Sullen,” is also its turning point. In 1:24, this quiet piece shifts from rain-drenched synth to church bells, sparking the return of the orchestra, which features on three of the last four tracks. The strings add a melancholic depth, which turns spiritual as the bells turn to chimes on “Moss.” The ancient meets the modern and finds a peaceful welcome, an instinctive integration. It all leads to the album’s stunning finale, “Plantae,” on which Hultquist and the LCO are joined by percussionist Valentina Magaletti (TOMAGA). The electronic pulse is replaced by the organic, the synthesizers dance in the trees, the wooden violins meet their ancestors, while Sofia sings wordlessly over it all. All elements are reconciled. Harmony is achieved. The birds sing us sweetly home."

About:
Night Songs is the latest record from awakened souls, the Los Angeles based husband and wife duo- James and Cynthia Bernard (marine eyes).
In the Spring of 2021, they found a good night’s rest was more important than ever to help them through pandemic days of schooling kids from home and balancing work and life. After going on an evening walk, James and Cynthia would write in their bedroom studio and test the evening's songs out for sleep.
Even prior to being together, they both loved searching for just the right album to calm their minds at the end of the day. Night Songs is their combined version of a sleepy evening record, exploring slowly evolving loop-based ambient primarily using bass guitar and vocal textures. The tracks which ultimately made it on the album helped them relax enough to go to a place where thoughts fade.

'PULSE 01'
by Influx & SYNE
PULSE 01
by
Influx & SYNE
Limited Edition LP [transparent xanthic]
Limited Edition LP [transparent xtal]
01/28/2022
About:
We are excited to commence a new series titled, 'PULSE'. Similar in nature to our ANON series, two artists showcase their work in tandem. 'PULSE 01' is the first release in PITP's new series, which is an ongoing exploration of ambient tech, while offering a more structured display of beat-driven ambient music. Pulse 01 features brand new tracks by SYNE and Influx.
SYNE is Dennis Huddleston from the UK, who is most recognized for his ambient work as 36. He returns to his SYNE alias for the first time in nearly 5 years, with only his second record since his 2017 self-titled debut LP. 'Dystalgia' is a 12 minute opus, spread over 3 movements. Soaring pads and razor sharp percussion combine for a dynamic, emotionally charged journey in sound. Showing love to the Detroit greats, but recognising the distinct UK influence which made him fall in love with Techno in the early 90's, it's a surprising pivot in Dennis' sound and one which all lovers of beautiful, melodic ambient techno should enjoy.
Influx is the techno/acid/trance moniker of James Bernard. With his first release in 1993 (Braineater EP on Sapho Records), Influx is no stranger to techno and acid. This project had been in hibernation for nearly 14 years until his 2021 remixes for his collaborative album with 36 and awakened souls (The Other Side of Darkness). Revel Dub is a dub-techno excursion with sprinkles of ambient and psy-trance rounding out the frequencies. The Slow Version dials back the tempo to half-time and travels to more ambient dub territories.

'I'll Look For You In Others'
by Patricia Wolf
I'll Look For You In Others
by
Patricia Wolf
02/04/2022
About:
Patricia Wolf’s I’ll Look for You in Others is the bittersweet fruit of a painful time in the Portland, Oregon, electronic musician’s life. Patricia wrote and recorded the album in 2020, in the aftermath of losing her mother-in-law to cancer and then, months later, losing a close friend. Created using her habitual materials—synthesizer and voice—in unfamiliar ways, the album served as a means of processing her feelings of heartbreak. “This album represents my journey to process these losses,” Patricia says. “It’s my search to find peace and to carry these lost dear ones inside me each day, with joy and gratitude.”
Making the album did not come easily. In the depths of her bereavement, Patricia found it difficult to relate to other people; she had trouble deriving pleasure from activities that typically brought her happiness. The COVID-19 pandemic and its seemingly endless panorama of grief only served to further dull her senses. “I didn’t want to give up on music, but it was a struggle to feel good about anything,” she says.
Feeling disconnected from everything around her, including her usual approach to music, Patricia found new inspiration in spectral processors—digital FFT algorithms that pull apart and reconfigure audio. As she reshaped her synthesizers and voice into stark, silvery new forms, she realized that the process functioned as a metaphor for grief itself: a representation of the transformation that happens when our loved ones are no longer with us as a physical presence, but are still alive within us in a beautiful new way. I’ll Look for You in Others is not just a document of loss; it is a testament to the way the loss of loved ones changes our lives, and the way the presence of those we’ve lost changes shape after they are gone.
I’ll Look for You in Others is doubly significant in that it marks Wolf’s official debut album, following a long, extensive practice of live performance, sound-design projects, contributions to benefit compilations, and reworks of the music of her friends and peers; it also marks a period of increased creative activity for her, with numerous releases in store for 2022. For listeners familiar with Patricia’s output until now, there are few recognizable elements of her previous work in her debut. On her 2020 live EP Sotto Le Stelle, Patricia expressed herself through playful and hypnotic synthesizer melodies. The feeling was light, curious, and bright. On I’ll Look for You in Others, the mood is mournful, nostalgic, elegiac—and at times cold and dark. Turning her grief into minimalist songs of spare, crystalline beauty, Patricia Wolf has created music imbued with emotional intention and clarity.
The title, I’ll Look for You in Others, is inspired by the poem “Epitaph,” by Merrit Malloy, which begins, “When I die/Give what’s left of me away.” Malloy writes:
I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
And not on your mind.
Being an intimate work that the artist needed to hold close, the album was self recorded and mixed at Patricia Wolf’s home in Portland, Oregon and mastered by her husband, Max Wolf. Patricia Wolf is a musician, sound designer, educator, and curator residing in Portland, Oregon. She is the co-founder and co-curator of Variform, a gallery for modern composition and sound art.

'No Beauty In The World'

No Beauty In The World
by
wøunds
Limited Edition LP [opaque gray swirl]
Limited Edition LP [transparent clear]
01/07/2022
About:
'No Beauty In The World' is a reflection of how in a world so cruel we can find beauty, with its music bouncing between beautiful ambience and piano loops, modular synth melodies to darker textural and feedback driven drones.
Unlike other wøunds records where the fluidity of the entire album tells a story, 'No Beauty In The World' explore various sonic possibilities and territories. This is a culmination of over 2 years of writing and recording, constantly driven by the uncertainty and darkness in the world that we live in. Despite it all, the sonic arc of the album gives us something to hope for, maybe there is beauty in the end.
The record was engineered and mixed by Diogo Strausz (Far Out Recordings) in France and mastered (digital and vinyl) by Lawrence English (Room40). The record features collaborations from guitarist Carlos Ferreira and drummer / synthesist Phillip Stosberg.
LP Details:
160 gram LP on opaque gray swirl (100 units) and transparent clear (200 units) housed in a semigloss jacket. PITP branded center labels. Record placed in black, anti-static inner sleeve with a .75 gauge archival polypropylene lining. Shrinkwrapped.
Credits:
Written and produced by Igor Imbu (wøunds) in Houston, Texas and Chicago, Illinois
Guitar on 'Limniad' by Carlos Ferreira
Drums on 'Impossible Rooms' by Phillip Stosberg
